The Ancient Art Of Dowsing appears to have started in Germany, somewhere around the fifteenth century. True dowsing came from German speaking people in northern Europe. Once discovered, the art spread quickly to all parts of Germany and was used by miners to locate veins of metal ore. Since then many different tools have been made, and a great degree of success has been obtained in finding many different ore's, and minerals, water etc. The single forked (mainly hazel) twig was developed and used to find copper and tin in Cornwall. This twig was known to the Germans as the wishing rod or Wunschelrute. The rod was developed from German expertise. It was used in Somerset to help to find lead and zinc from around 1627-1691. Since then many different techniques and tools have been developed. Every dowser must find and use the tool most suitable for his needs.
The Golden Rule every dowser must follow before any dowsing commences is to ask, May I? Can I? Should I? If the answer to all the questions is a positive yes, then proceed to try to find the answer for that which you seek. Remember, the more you use your dowsing tools, the more efficient you will become.
